How can I be responsible for my pain? Why will I hurt myself? Great questions. Wrong vantage point. You don’t do something knowing that it will hurt you, unless of course you want to lift 20kgs over your head in the gym at 7 in the morning. You gain strength if you do it. Oh wait. You gain strength if you learn from your pain too. Damn. So does that mean you go on to make more mistakes and knowingly hurt yourself? No. You become more aware of how not to hurt yourself and take better care of yourself.

But, the first step is always to accept. Accept that you made the mistake and are responsible for yourself and what has caused you pain. It might be as simple as not being firm or maybe not saying anything. But, accept it. You will feel the load lift from your shoulders and your head clearing up. Why? Because your mind is active. You took away something that would let it wallow in worry and stress you out. So now, you can relax and sleep.
