SETBACK

Setbacks are a reality. No one is immune to them, yet when they arrive, they often feel like the end of the road. A failed relationship, a missed opportunity, or even just a rough day at work can feel like the world collapsing. But the worst kind are the ones you accepted as a possibility when you took something on - a plan, a job or a relationship. And now that possibility is a reality. You know the reasons why you took the path which led you here and you know the positives to take from it too. But, boy does it suck. Horrible.
It’s not the end of the world and is most certainly not a unique occurrence where your misfortune is the first time this has happened to anyone in the WHOLE world. Yet, we wallow in it as if that’s what has happened. How do ‘I’ always end up with the darnedest luck in the whole wide world? Sounds like a redneck American, doesn’t it? Well, I ain’t. (:p)
Instagram has some posts doing the rounds where they say one picture will change how you perceive yourself and things happening to you and around you. One of those was a big white square with a very tiny square box inside it on one corner. It read - how a bad thing affects you. And next to it was another white square and the red square was taking up almost 80% of the white square with varying intensities of ‘rouge’ (Yes, I know français) and it read how you perceive it.
The truth, take a step back and you’ll realise that the setback is only as big as you let it be. Don’t ignore it but don’t make it out to be bigger than it really is.
^THIS - takes practice. But each small step helps you feel better. Be curious about feeling better. And you’ll get better at dealing with setbacks. That can fuel your growth OR reduce the fear you have about things. Maybe both.
You can solve the problem and you can recover from the setback too just don’t dwell on it. Take some action and that setback will be a battle scar in no time.
